Merrivale Lane

Merrivale Lane

Client: 3MC Developments

Australia

Located in the serene surrounds of Turramurra, Merrivale Lane is envisioned as a refined residential development that balances tradition with contemporary liveability. The design draws on classical detailing through the use of picture moulding and carefully proportioned wall panelling, creating a timeless backdrop for modern interventions. Fully fit out in RH Modern, the interiors evoke a sense of sophistication and calm, and this balance between old and new defines the project’s character, delivering interiors that feel enduring while responding to contemporary lifestyles.

A defining challenge of the project was that all 16 apartments were approached as individual custom homes, with no two layouts or finishes alike. From trim mouldings to bespoke joinery and spatial configurations, each residence was designed and constructed as a unique expression of home, tailored to provide a distinctive living experience.

Central to the scheme is the interplay of modern materiality with traditional architectural cues. In the kitchens, Gaggenau appliances are integrated seamlessly within finely detailed joinery, their precision and innovation complementing the timeless character of Cosentino marble benchtops and American Walnut herringbone timber floors. Bathrooms continue this dialogue, where Kohler medicine cabinets and sleek fixtures are set against natural stone surfaces, layering refinement with practical elegance. RH Modern furnishings add depth and tactility, with textural rugs, sculptural sofas, and linear decorative lighting elements softening the architectural order with warmth and rhythm.

Throughout the residences, natural light, refined detailing, and curated furniture selections create a seamless sense of flow. Each apartment has been designed to feel like a self-contained home, with generous proportions, thoughtful layouts, and distinct zones that echo the experience of larger houses while offering the ease of apartment living. The result is an interior that feels personal and welcoming, a modern retreat that carries the spirit of a family home within a more considered, scaled-down footprint.
