Inspiration from Cinematic Classics

Interior design is all about creating a certain feeling in a space. And what better way to get inspiration for your own home than from some of the most iconic films in history?

Here are four interior design styles that you can find in classic films and that can inspire your own home:

1. Quintessential Mediterranean – The Holiday

The stunning Mediterranean mansion that Cameron Diaz’s character, Amanda, stays in while on holiday is a classic example of this design. Whitewashed walls, rustic furniture and décor are all features of this traditional style. This is the style to use if you want your house to have a relaxed and comfortable feel.

2. Hamptons Style – Something’s Gotta Give

The luxurious Hamptons style is on full display in the film Something’s Gotta Give. The modern beach house that Jack Nicholson’s character, Harry, is recovered in is the perfect example of this chic style. Characterised by its clean lines and neutral colours, this style is perfect for those who want a stylish but uncluttered home.

3. American Opulence – Sabrina

In the classic film Sabrina, we are transported to the lavish and opulent world of Long Island high society. This design is all about luxury and excess, with rich fabrics, dark colours, and grandiose furniture. If you want your home to have a look of wealth and sophistication, this is the style for you.

4. Cold Minimalism- Psycho and Sleeping With The Enemy

This style is characterised by a bland, clinical appearance. This design is all about clean lines, limited furnishings, and a cool, collected atmosphere. This design is ideal for creating a calm and peaceful environment.
